Edward’s Violin Studio uses contemporary methods such as body awareness, mindfulness, game pedagogy, developmental psychology, and creative invention/improvisation. We aim to teach the whole person using all learning modalities.
The SUZUKI METHOD is a step-by-step way to learn music started by Dr. Shin’ichi Suzuki in Japan and later brought around the world. Emphasizing deep internalization of sound through listening and immersion in group performance, Suzuki uses the “mother tongue” approach: children will learn naturally to speak what is being spoken in their environment. By surrounding students with engaged teaching, supportive parental presence, playing with peers, and practice discipline at home, they are guaranteed to learn and express in the language of music. Dr. Suzuki also believed that nurturing a child through love will grow their heart and help them develop the character needed to succeed in music and in life.
